3 More Reasons You’ll Love Jet Shades

Easy Placement Method

Jet Shades do not require tools, advanced skills, or an STC. They can be fit by any pilot, owner, handyman, aircraft mechanic, or one of our dealers. Our innovative design tucks behind the trim or fits using included windowsill clips. No adhesives or suction cups are used. Jet Shades do not adhere to your aircraft windows and are easily installed/removed for each flight both on the ground or during flight.

The One Sun Shade Solution That Does It All

While Jet Shades were born out of one pilot’s need for superior sun protection during flight, they can also be used to keep your aircraft cooler when parked on hot, sunny ramps. The premium mirrored finish shields the interior from solar damage and offers privacy by preventing visibility inside the aircraft. With Jet Shades you no longer need separate foil guards while parked.

Enhanced Ramp Appeal

Jet Shades are not only about protecting your cockpit with the best sun protection available; they’re also a stylish upgrade that turns heads on the ramp. Elevate this even further by customizing your Jet Shades with your name, tail number, or company logo, making your aircraft a true reflection of your personal style or brand identity.

An Afternoon Installation = Endless Hours of Comfort

Jet Shades can be fit by any pilot, owner, or one of our dealers. No special tools are required, only a sharp pair of scissors. All Jet Shades include an installation manual for reference.

Not a do-it-yourself person? No problem! Jet Shades installation can be done by your aircraft mechanic, local shop, or one of our Jet Shades™ authorized dealers.

Cockpit Side windows and Cabin windows

  • Place the bottom of the Jet Shade over the aircraft trim and up against the aircraft window.
  • Curve the center of the shade away from the window and tuck the top into the top of the aircraft window, behind the trim and up against the window.
  • Push the sides into the aircraft window.

The Gen 2 Jet Shades should fit inside the windowsill, allowing the aircraft trim to keep them in place.

If wrinkles, it means the Jet Shade is pinched against the Aircraft trim. If you have a wrinkle, pull back the rubber trim from the seam and trim the shade with a good pair of sharp scissors. Place the rubber trim back in place and refit the shade. If you still see wrinkles, repeat this until the Jet Shades fits without pinching against the trim. Trim only small amounts, maybe 1/16” at a time as it won’t take much to clear the wrinkles and you don’t want to cut the shade too small.

General

When parked on the ramp, how do Jet Shades compare to foil guards?

Jet Shades are designed for use during flight and can also stay in while parked on the ramp to protect the aircraft interior from excessive heat damage caused by harmful UV rays. While foil guards can be helpful, they are time-consuming and cumbersome and do not offer the benefit of blocking up to 94% infrared heat (Premium Version) and 99.9% UVA/UVB, the primary cause of cracked and faded interiors. Jet Shades keep the aircraft cooler than foil guards when parked on the ramp.

What kind of UV radiation protection do Jet Shades offer?

  • UV-A is 320 nm to 380 nm - transmits through the atmosphere.
  • UV-B is 290 nm to 320 nm - partially absorbed by the atmosphere (ozone layer).
  • UV-C is 100 nm to 290 nm - absorbed by the atmosphere (ozone layer).

We test and report according to NFRC standards, these reference ISO9050:2003 as the method for measuring UV transmittance between 300 nm and 380 nm.

The UV transmittance of glazing is the fraction of the incident solar radiation transmitted by the glazing in the 300 nm to 380 nm range (UV-B range from 300 nm to 315 nm and UV-A range from 315 nm to 380 nm.)

Using the NFRC method, Jet Shades are 99% or greater, on average, in UV rejection.

Where can I find warranty information for my Jet Shades?

All Jet Shades come with a two-year warranty. A copy of our warranty is shipped with your Jet Shades, or you can view the warranty here.

I have factory-tinted cabin and skylight windows in my aircraft. Do I still need Jet Shades?

The short answer is Yes! Here's why: the factory-installed limo tint package blocks mostly light - not heat. When you add our Jet Shades premium, 76% of the heat BTU’s coming in from the tinted windows will be blocked, making for cooler, more comfortable trips. And, passengers can still enjoy the amazing views with the added peace of mind because Jet Shades also block 99.9% of harmful UV radiation — a must when traveling with light-sensitive passengers, children or pets.

Is there an STC (Supplementary Type Certificate) needed to fit Jet Shades into my aircraft windows?

No, an STC is not needed as placing Jet Shades in your aircraft windows is not modifying the aircraft in any way. There are no adhesives used, no suction cups, no tools are needed, and nothing attaches to the aircraft windows. Jet Shades can be placed/removed in your aircraft windows for each flight as well as easily installed/removed by the pilots during flight.

Will Jet Shades damage the aircraft windows?

No.  It takes 205℉  to start damaging acrylic windows and much higher for glass windows.  Jet Shades, when installed correctly, significantly block UV/UVB and infrared rays and, unlike foil guards, do not generate windshield heat near this threshold. Jet Shades create a cooler, ambient interior temperature that preserves windows, window trim, and interior finishes.

Can I use generic film on my aircraft windows? I’ve seen mentions of ‘aviation films.’

Only if you want to violate the FAA regulations and have your aircraft grounded on a ramp check or fail a pre-buy inspection. There is no ‘Aviation film’ that is approved for aircraft use as this would require an STC. Without an STC it is a violation to make modifications to an aircraft.  Films block emergency window viewing for safe egress at night which is a violation. Films cannot be ‘carried on and carried off ‘ each flight like a portable electronic device and are not loose equipment.  Not to mention the internal stress films put on aircraft windows as they shrink and expand.  There have been several documented window blowouts and very expensive repairs due to films.  To be very clear – films are not FAA-approved unless there is an STC to do so in your aircraft.

I have Rosen Visors. Will Jet Shades interfere with these?

No.  The Jet Shades will not interfere with the Rosen Visor system.  You can still use the Rosen Visors with your Jet Shades installed.

Material

Are Jet Shades the same window tinting film used in automotive car windows?

No. Jet Shades do not use automotive tinting film. The film you see in cars will blister, wrinkle, and separate over time due to temperature changes and humidity when attached to surfaces other than glass. The tinting material used in automobiles absorbs a significant amount of heat which could potentially damage aircraft windows. Additionally, Jet Shades has a proprietary, engineered process for applying and curing its unique optical quality film that caters specifically to the aircraft.  Note – Films should never be placed directly on aircraft cockpit windows – especially pressurized cabins. This can cause damage to the aircraft windows including cracking or blowouts of the cockpit windows.

Can I roll up my Jet Shades?

Jet Shades are flexible and can be rolled to about a 12” diameter circle without creasing.  Going smaller than that can cause damage to the Jet Shades.

Will prolonged exposure to heat damage my Jet Shade?

Jet Shades are tested to withstand extreme heat up to 200℉  without bubbling, blistering, or delaminating.

Will Condensation form on the Jet Shades?

In some conditions (usually at flight levels for longer periods of time) you may see condensation or frost develop on the Jet Shade.  This is perfectly normal and will not damage the Jet Shade.  If condensation or frost does appear on the Shade, we recommend you remove the panel from the window or windshield and set it aside.  The condensation or frost should quickly dissipate.

DO NOT attempt to remove your Jet Shades in flight unless the autopilot is verified as on and functioning or a qualified crewmember has control of the aircraft.

How long will my Jet Shades last?

Both original Jet Shades, Generation Two, and Ultra-Thins Jet Shades were designed using technology estimated to provide 5 years of service when used and maintained following our instructions. Jet Shades come with a two-year warranty.

Generation Two and Ultra-Thins Jet Shades: While Jet Shades are flexible and will bend without breaking or shattering, they can still be creased if folded or rolled up. Therefore, Jet Shades should not be folded or rolled up into a circle smaller than 12” in diameter.

Original Jet Shades: While the Jet Shades are somewhat flexible and will bend without breaking or shattering, they can still be damaged from overbending. Jet Shades should not be flexed more than necessary to install and fit your aircraft's windows. Flexing or bending past 30 degrees, not removing them in heat conditions, and exposure to high humidity, all reduce the life of the product. We recommend you follow the instructions sheet provided for conditions requiring removal as well as storage to prolong the life of your Jet Shades.

Can Jet Shades crack or shatter?

No. Jet Shades are flexible enough that they will only crease and wrinkle.  They will not shatter or break.

Installation & Fit

I have a Rail that my visor slides on around my side windows and front windshield. Will the Jet Shades work with this configuration?

Yes, the Jet Shade should be able to slide behind the rail and up against the window.  We have tested this on Eclipse, Citations, King Air, and other aircraft.  If you have a non-standard rail system that interferes with the Jet Shades, please let us know and we’ll help find a solution.

Do I have to change the weight and balance of my aircraft with the Jet Shades installed?

Each Jet Shades panel weighs approximately ½ pound depending upon its size.  A full set of Jet Shades installed in your aircraft can weigh from 3–12 pounds depending upon the number of windows involved.  Since they are not permanently fixed to the aircraft they should be considered in the weight and balance calculation before each flight just as any other carry-on material would be.

What should I do if I am having trouble fitting my Jet Shade into my window?

If you are having trouble fitting Jet Shades into your windows, please contact us. We can determine if it is an installation issue or if we need to create an update to the shade design; or possibly, the Jet Shades you received did not match the pattern of your aircraft and the shades need to be swapped; or we can direct you to one of our Authorized Dealers. Whatever the issue is, we will work with you until resolved.

Note – there are many videos on our YouTube channel showing Installations.  This may resolve issues as well.

How do Jet Shades attach to the window?

There are several different methods for installing Jet Shades depending upon your aircraft and the product line.  On most piston propeller aircraft using our Ultra-Thin product line the Jet Shades slide between the aircraft window trim and window or are trimmed to fit the window exactly and rubber edging is applied.  Mounting clips (provided) are attached to the windowpane and the Jet Shades panels are secured by pressing them into the clips. Gen2 Professional Series has a unique mounting system for Turboprops and Jets that provides an ultra-clean look and allows for easy installation of the Jet Shades during flight.

How can I tell if Jet Shades will fit my aircraft?

On each product page, you will find a Compatibility Chart that states which aircraft the product will fit. If you don’t see your aircraft on our site, please contact us.  Most likely, we can custom-make one for your aircraft or send you a DIY kit.

Do Jet Shades attach to the aircraft window like a cling-on film or use suction cups?

No. Jet Shades do not "stick" or attach in any way to the aircraft window and no suction cups are used.  Our securing mechanism allows Jet Shades to fit into the windowpane and cover the window without attaching to it.  Therefore,  you never have to worry about costly damage due to adhesive films (which can also be a violation of the FAA regulations) or suction cups that restrict window expansion and contraction during flight.

Use, Cleaning & Storage

Can I leave Jet Shades in my windows when parked?

Jet Shades has a one-of-a-kind formulation that reflects most heat and absorbs only a small portion. They can remain in the windows while parked under most environmental conditions.

Generation 2 Jet Shades: Gen 2 Jet Shades are tested up to 200 degrees F and can stay in while parked. They will protect your aircraft interior from damaging UV as well as block more than 80 percent of Infrared heat. The result is foil guards can stay in the hangar, as they are not needed in the aircraft anymore.

Original Jet Shades: The Jet Shades will become about 20 – 30 degrees warmer than the interior temperature of your aircraft. In some climates, the interior could get over 140 degrees while parked, which may cause thermal expansion in the Jet Shade. Therefore, when the outside temperature exceeds 90 degrees while your plane is parked outside in the sun for over 2 hours, remove your Jet Shades from the windows.

What should I do if the Jet Shades get wet?

Immediately wipe them off with a soft cloth towel.  Do not let the Jet Shades stay in moisture for any period of time.  Always keep Jet Shades dry for best performance.

How should I store my Jet Shades when not in use?

The safest place to store Jet Shades is in the microfiber Jet Shade case included with most orders. Jet Shades that do not have a case are best stored in a clean dry place and kept in a low traffic area to prevent scratching. In areas with high humidity or significantly high temperatures (over 90*F) it is best to remove the Jet Shades into a lower humidity environment.

What if it gets dark or goes from day to night while flying? Can I remove my Jet Shade in flight?

Yes, Jet Shades are easily removed while flying with the Autopilot engaged.  The included instruction manual provides directions for easy removal.  We also note that the autopilot is verified as on and functioning, or a qualified crew member has control of the aircraft during the removal of your Jet Shades.

Can I use foil guards with Jet Shades?

No, Jet Shades cannot be used at the same time as foil guards. Foil guards are not needed when Jet Shades are installed and can scratch the Jet Shades when inserting and removing them.

How do I clean my Jet Shades?

Jet Shades have a coating system that is applied to the surface of each panel that faces outward. For that reason, Jet Shades have both left and right orientations in the cockpit windows. To ensure the integrity of your Jet Shades, they must be cleaned properly and carefully to avoid damage.

For a light cleaning (such as removing fingerprints), simply wipe with a clean, microfiber towel. To remove heavier buildup, use approximately 1 tablespoon of baby shampoo per half gallon of water and dampen the microfiber towel with the cleaning solution. You can place the Jet Shade briefly under running water then blot with a paper towel or microfiber cloth. It is not recommended to submerge or soak the Jet Shades. Alternatively, you can use 70% isopropyl alcohol. Wet a microfiber cloth with alcohol and wipe the shade.

If Jet Shades can stay installed when parked, why would I need a storage case?

When flying at night you should remove the shades and place them in the polybag provided and stow them behind the pilot seat or in the cabin for quick access. The main use of the storage case is when the plane goes into maintenance. We have had damage to Jet Shades reported as technicians did not know how to handle them properly. Therefore we recommend you remove your Jet Shades and place them in the storage case when you bring your aircraft in for maintenance. If your Jet Shades package did not include a storage case, they can be purchased separately on our website.

Jet Shades Product Warranty

Jet Shades come with a two-year warranty on manufacturer’s defects. The warranty period begins from the date of shipment. Jet Shades warranty does not cover scratches that have occurred during use or improper use of Jet Shades as described in the Jet Shades instruction manual.

All warranty work is done directly through Jet Shades. Jet Shades customers or authorized dealers should submit warranty requests through the website contact form. Each Jet Shade product features a serial number located on the front page of the instruction manual. This number is required to process any warranty claim.

Our customer care team will process the request and issue a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number that should be referenced when shipping your product to us. Customers are responsible for shipping products back to Jet Shades. Upon receipt and inspection, Jet Shades will ship a replacement.

Note – Jet Shades are scratch-resistant: they are not scratch-proof. Please handle Jet Shades carefully when removing and installing.

The Jet Shades Story

The idea for Jet Shades was born in 2017 when a private pilot and engineer—frustrated by hot, uncomfortable flights—finally had enough. He wanted to enjoy flying without resorting to temporary or unsightly hacks to block the heat and glare. Using his engineering background, he tested various materials and installation methods, ultimately creating a virtually unbreakable, eye-catching window panel that blocks UV, heat, glare, and solar energy while providing maximum visibility for pilots. Jet Shades are available for cockpit and cabin windows in a growing number of aircraft types—including propeller, turboprop, jets, airliners, and helicopters.

Pilot Reviews

We bought jet shades at my fellow pilot and wife Karen’s request. We tried them on a trip to the San Francisco Bay Area this last weekend. We loved them and wouldn’t change a thing!

Mike Turk
Eclipse Pilot

“We had our first chance to fly with our new Jet Shades today. My wife & I noticed the difference as soon as we climbed in. We had an 85F sunny day out and cabin was so much more comfortable on the ground and the AC really feels cooler. Also loved not feeling any “hot spots” on our body from the sun during flight. She also thought the visibility was so great and the plane looked so good from the outside with them installed, we wanted to provide you with the pirep!”

Jose Freyre
Cirrus Pilot

“I LOVE my Jet Shades! They are by far the best aftermarket purchase I’ve made for this jet.”

R.Scott Yarish, MD

“Jet Shades are the best investment I’ve made in my Cirrus!”

Deidre Powell
Cirrus Pilot

I have not had anything work so well in the cockpit so thank you for your design, it’s been a life saver.

Steve Urban
Piper Mirage Pilot

“With Jet Shades installed in my Cessna 340 I noticed a Huge difference! Normally I have to fly in shorts & a tee shirt as temperatures would be 85+ in the cockpit. With Jet Shades it’s now comfortable even wearing long pants & long sleeves. – Great Product!”

Jeff Culwell
Cessna Pilot

Everything about my Jet Shades is fantastic! I like that I can let light in, yet still block the UV. Jet Shades are a great solution for a long time problem!

Victor Girgenti
Pilot

We have really enjoyed using the Premium Jet Shades package in our R66 helicopter. They look absolutely amazing with the mirrored finish and we have received numerous compliments about them. It also makes such a tremendous difference in reducing glare and cockpit temperatures, both in the air and while sitting on the ramp. They fit perfectly in the window frames and take a little effort to install, but once they are in they stay put. The shades are easy to remove by simply pulling on the attached velcro straps. The clarity of these are amazing and are easy to see through, the tinting really reduces the heat from the sun and makes flying in hot weather much more comfortable. I highly recommend them and the customer service at Jet Shades is top notch!

Aron Whitesell
Robinson R66 Pilot

Normally it is super hot and the AC just blows on the side of your head in the cockpit. We actually had to turn the AC down. It was probably 12-14 degrees difference. It was amazing!

Al J.
Robinson Helicopter Pilot

Flying my Robinson R44 in the Arizona summers, my Jet Shades are cooler than cool!  I can’t imagine flying without them!

Kirby Chambliss
Two-time Red Bull Air Race World Champion Aerobatic and Air Race Pilot

I’ve had the shades in for about four weeks and I’m super happy with them – we live in Arizona, and they are a total game-changer. In the past, during our 5 month summers, my wife dreaded the 4-5 minutes when we are first in the plane before we had the A/C going and said she can’t believe the difference with the shades in.

Todd C.
Cirrus Pilot

I just bought them in Nashville last week and used them on several long flights. Primarily I got them for PapaLima who often fled to the back of the airplane when Eastbound rather than get roasted in the copilot seat.  I thought I would need to remove them when below Class A airspace to adequately watch for traffic but it turns out that the visibility is more than adequate with them in place. They do dramatically reduce the heat in the cockpit. They fit well.

Gordon Feingold
Eclipse Pilot

The [Jet Shades] are fantastic! I took them off half way back so my son could feel the difference, and he really noticed how much cooler they kept you.  It will be a big hit with my wife for sure.

Mike Megler
Mirage Pilot

These shade are very well made. They fit very good around both side windows and pilots windshield. The co-pilots fits good, but grabs the rubber when you take them out. It hasn’t broken or torn, you just have to be careful with it. If the rubber edges hold up, these will be hard to beat. My first impression is these are great.

There was no glare. The temperature cooled down almost immediately. I removed the pilots windshield before landing on first landing, left them in for the second landing, and can say I definitely prefer them in on a sunny day. For those of you still waiting, give them a call and see when your will ship. ORDER them soon if you haven’t because they will have a hard time keeping up with the order once everyone sees the quality of the product and how great they perform.

Jim Bell
Bonanza Pilot

I really like my Jet Shades. They do an amazing job of keeping the plane at a cool temperature in the Florida sun and I love the fact I no longer need to use makeshift paper to keep the sun off my copilot and I while in flight!

Ilio Ulivi
Eclipse Pilot

I used my Jet Shades for the first time Wednesday flying from Durango to Denver.  It was a bright day with the sun in our eyes but the Jet Shades did a great job!

Tim Bouchard
Eclipse Pilot

Finally got Jet Shades custom installed in my Bonanza A36 and LOVE them! My local shop in Prescott – Legends Aviation – custom cut and fitted them and they did a great job.

I had replaced all of my glass several years ago with UV Solar gray and they are great, but still didn’t block enough to reduce the heat. Most of our flights are in the teens and the sun is obviously intense in the Southwest. Anyway, the difference this morning just taxiing back to my hangar from the shop was amazing! Can’t wait for our next flightâ€Ĥ

I have the original, premium Jet Shades kit for all windows of my 35 Bonanza.  It’s the best upgrade I’ve ever done, and I’ve done just about everything possible to this airframe.  I even added air conditioning 15 years ago and found it wasn’t that beneficial besides blowing cold air on my face.  Jet Shades are what made flying my Bonanza comfortable for the first time.

Justin Graff, MD
Bonanza 35 N80HL

I had been renting Raven IIs for almost a year, and the first thing I did when I purchased my own aircraft was to install Jet Shades. They make a world of difference in the hot Los Angeles sun, reducing the heat and glare without reducing visibility!

I was fortunate enough to have Jet Shades make their very first set in a Baron for me. I absolutely love them and have yet to take them out of my window day or night. As said above if you have issues they will address it as they strive for 100% satisfaction.

Kristoffer Patasnik
Baron Pilot

It’s a simple statement: “I Love my Jet Shades.” I received my Jet Shades as a Christmas gift (Thank You Santa😊) We all know the cockpit is a “cool” place to work and with Jet Shades it’s even cooler! The heat and glare from the sun can become uncomfortable and can impede quick reference to the flight instruments and screens. But with Jet Shades in place, the cockpit is much cooler and glare is a thing of the past. The Jet Shade company has been awesome to work with and has taken great care of me.

CJ2 Judie
Citation Pilot

I’ve been flying with Jet Shades in the Airbus H125 for the past six months and could not be happier! The shades keep out the heat and glare allowing the air conditioner to keep up in the South Florida heat and the aircraft very comfortable.  And it’s great to hear the nonstop comments from other pilots and passengers about the amazing look the shades add with their mirrored finish from outside the aircraft!  Jet Shades are a game-changer in the H125!

Jetshades really stands behind its indispensable product. Thanks guys!

Jeff litcherman
Piper PA46 Malibu Pilot

After 25 hours of early fall desert heat and mostly “severe clear” sunshine I’m attesting that they provide the best shading I’ve ever experienced. N354BC does not have air conditioning â€Ĥ by choice â€Ĥ and with the JetShades the cabin is noticeably cooler. I was getting ~ 30% UV block with my G&D shades and the > 70% UV shading with the JetShades was associated with a noticeably cooler cabin.

The long and the short of it is; JetShades is the best window shading option I’ve ever seen. They are most welcome for both PAX and front-end guys. JetShades are one of the best add-ons I’ve done to Four-Bravo-Charlie and I endorse JetShades to my Bonanza Brothers without qualifications.

I  had an opportunity to use Jet Shades on the way home to FL.  Since we departed  Sunday morning, the sun was directly on me and was a little hard to see  the instrument panel.  I put the Jet-shade in the pilot window and it  was very dramatic.  The glare was gone on the panel, and it wasn’t hot anymore on me.  I don’t have any financial stake in the company, so this report is just what I saw.  I do recommend them highly so far.

There is one event in particular that caused me to seek a solution for UV protection in the windows of my 1978 V35B Bonanza (which does not have air conditioning). I had to fly from Charleston, SC, to Nashville, TN, around lunch time in the middle of the summer. By the time I got to Nashville, I had a sunburn, which was embarrassing for my afternoon business appointments and also unpleasant over the next several days. With a history of skin cancer in my family, I figured that UV protection in the windows of my Bonanza would help.

In addition to sun damage, I also struggled with temperature control. Even with the firewall cut off knob all the way out, all the gaskets changed, and the ventilation system working optimally, my Bonanza still gets very hot on the ramp and during climb out and descent in summertime afternoons in the south.

To address the sun and heat, I investigated everything from cheap stick on sunscreens that didn’t look like they would work very well to expensive replacement of all the windows. Jet Shades seemed to be the best solution for me. Here’s why.

I have not gotten a sunburn. And I feel safer from skin cancer with 99+% of UV blocked. With 80% of heat blocked, the cockpit is also much, much cooler. In fact, Jet Shades are so effective that I no longer feel the urge to move my Rosen sun visors to block the sun. I am also taking trips to places and at times of the day that I would not have done without Jet Shades, so I’m getting more enjoyment and use out of the plane. And with perfect optical quality, there is no visual impairment whatsoever.

I purchased custom-made Jet Shades for my Mooney Ovation a couple of years ago and cannot imagine owning my airplane without them. Living in southeast Florida transforms the cockpit into an oven during the sunny summer months. I have noticed a significant and welcome drop in temperatures inside my airplane since its installation. In addition, flying with the sun to the left or right of my airplane is now tolerable as the Jet Shades do a fantastic job at blocking the blinding light. What makes these shades stand out from permanent tinting, is that at lower light levels, these shades can be quickly and easily removed so they don’t interfere with visibility. If you own an airplane, I highly recommend getting Jet Shades as the add-on you didn’t know you needed until you have them.

This afternoon I departed Phoenix at about 2:30 in route to LA. It was 110 in Phoenix and the air conditioning just could not cool the plane. During climb out I installed the shades and the temperature came down dramatically in a matter of minutes. My passenger even commented how much more comfortable it was having the shades up from both a temperature and radiation perspective. I’ve used my JetShades on several legs…highly recommend them.  They fit securely, are easy to install/remove, and are very well made.  I also advise getting the carrying case to protect them. Honestly, I think I’d raise the price and include the case with the purchase rather than as an extra. My guess is the shades could get scratched or marred if just left loose in the airplane. Anyway, thanks for designing them for our plane!

I got the perfect fit of the Jet Shades for the G36 Bonanza. And they are Awesome! Thanks to Kevin Duggin and Manuel Meyrat who were intimately involved in the paper, polycarbonate template adjustment process. The product is every bit as advertised and then some. Love my Jet Shades! As advertised absolutely awesome!

Easy to see through, even in traffic. I have visor rails and a non issue. Nice product.

Jet Shades made a significant difference in my TBM.  They make the plane noticeably more comfortable for pilots and passengers. I don’t know how I would fly without them now!

I am a big fan of Kevin Duggan and his company Jet Shades.  I had the [first] generation Jet Shades in my Robinson R66 helicopter for over a year and found that they not only worked but more importantly, they worked really well. They substantially cut the heat while at the same time allowing great visibility for situational awareness.  When parked on the ramp, the Jet Shades easily kept the inside temperature less and allowed the cockpit to cool quicker once I was back in the helicopter and running the AC.  Now take all of those comments and multiply it by two, because that is how good the Generation 2 shades are!!!  I have now been experiencing the benefits of the Generation 2 shades for about 2 weeks and they are nothing less than awesome.  I highly recommend you consider the Generation 2 shades, and I can assure you that you will be happy that you did.

I have been flying around with them in sunny San Diego for about 2 weeks now. I have a 1972 E55 Beech Baron. They are freaking awesome !!!! I don’t think I can go back to a regular window anymore. The best part is for night ops you can just remove them which is great.

I highly recommend them, the clarity and quality is excellent. The clarity of the sunshades is amazing, kind of like your best pair of sunglasses plus they’re easy to remove for night. I flew from San Diego up to San Luis Obispo and back. I had the sunshades in the whole time it was nice and cool in the plane. Best money I’ve ever spent.

We got the opportunity to try out Jet Shades today. I found them to be perfect for me. We flew from Northern California to Arizona (E25), a low VFR flight from E25 to KHII, and back to NorCal which allowed us to try them at high altitudes as well as low. I was amazed at how much heat the light shades block! Our flight was very comfortable with the morning sun coming in the side window yet I didn’t have the feeling it was too dark to watch for traffic. Our low VFR flight, in the hot AZ sun, was also very comfortable. We had the AC running for that flight and I even had to adjust the blower away from me as it felt a little cool. We left them on the entire flight–takeoff, inflight, landing and taxiing. We also left them on with the foil shades between the window and Jet Shades while we were on the ground fueling. Found them very easy to handle that way and also felt the front ones helped anchor the foil shades better keeping them from falling inward. We will likely leave them on at all times except parking outside on the ramp for more than a few minutes (except with the foil shades on as well.) A huge shout out to Kevin Duggan who wanted me to be happy with my Jet Shades. It worked!

The cruising shades are an absolute game-changer! They take all of two seconds to pop in and out and move where you want them to be. I always said id never fly a Cirrus again without the side Jet Shades and the eye brow shade. The cruising shades have made that essential list. It really is a completely different experience flying with them.

I installed Jet Shades and flew from Tennessee to Florida. Had to turn down the A/C it got too cold in the cockpit! I am not joking! They are awesome!

About Jet Shades

Founded by an engineer and private pilot who was always hot in the cockpit and wrestled with sun glare on him and the instrument panel in the hot Florida sun, Jet Shades are the only anti-glare anti-heat removable window panels that fill the cockpit side windows completely. Jet Shades reduce heat so you will fly cooler, reduce instrument glare, reducing eye strain, and protect you from harmful UV rays. Jet Shades are made in the USA.
