Up to 30°F Cooler

Reduces cockpit heat in flight and on the ramp

Reposition as the Sun Moves

Adjust coverage during cruise flight as lighting conditions change

Description

Cruising Shades are removable upper windshield panels designed to block direct overhead sunlight during level flight. They slide behind your existing Jet Shades windshield panels to provide targeted protection from heat, glare, and UV exposure precisely where the sun is strongest.

Ideal for early morning and late afternoon flying, Cruising Shades help reduce eye strain, pilot fatigue, and cockpit heat while maintaining forward visibility.

These shades are designed specifically for aircraft already equipped with compatible Jet Shades windshield panels and are intended for cruise flight when the aircraft is stable and level.

Compatibility & Sizing

Cruising Shades require existing Jet Shades windshield panels and are not designed to function as a standalone product.

Compatibility varies by aircraft and windshield configuration. Certain aircraft with highly curved windshields — including many helicopter applications — are not compatible with Cruising Shades.

Use the Cruising Shades Size Chart to determine whether your aircraft/package is compatible and which Cruising Shades size is required for your windshield configuration.

If you are unsure which size you need, please contact Jet Shades before ordering.

Fitting

Cruising Shades are designed to be used in conjunction with your Jet Shades windshield panels.

Using Cruising Shades

Cruising Shades are designed for the enroute phase of flight when the aircraft is level and the autopilot is engaged, or for use while the aircraft is parked on the ground.

Placement & Removal

Cruising Shades are lightweight and easily positioned without tools.

  1. Slide the upper edge behind your windshield Jet Shade.
  2. Rest the lower edge on the dashboard.
  3. Adjust the position as needed to manage overhead sun exposure.
  4. Remove and stow prior to descent.
Ground Protection Capability

Cruising Shades are engineered to withstand elevated cockpit temperatures and have been tested up to 200°F without bubbling or distortion.

When parked on the ramp, they can be placed directly on the windshield to help reduce interior heat load and protect avionics and interior surfaces. No separate reflective covers required.
