Compare Package Options

Not every pilot needs the same level of coverage. Jet Shades packages vary by how much of your aircraft is covered:

Windshield Packages
Covers the front windshield and, on some aircraft, overhead skylight panels. Ideal for reducing direct sun exposure in flight.

Cockpit Packages
Typically includes the windshield plus the pilot and copilot side windows—a popular option for balanced heat, glare, and UV protection in the main flight area.

Full Aircraft Packages
Extends coverage to additional cabin or rear windows for more complete interior protection and maximum heat reduction.

Up to 30°F Cooler

Reduces cockpit heat in flight and on the ramp

Reduces Pilot Fatigue

Minimizes harsh sun and glare at FL350

Description

Aircraft like the Cessna Citation CJ3, with its light jet cockpit and large forward-facing windows, operate at higher altitudes where UV exposure is more intense, and large cockpit windows can allow significant sunlight and glare into the flight deck.

Available in multiple configurations, each Jet Shades package is designed to reduce glare, improve cockpit comfort, and help protect against increased UV exposure at higher altitudes.

Fitting

How Jet Shades are fitted to your aircraft

Jet Shades are designed for a straightforward, aircraft-specific fit. While fitting can vary by aircraft, it requires no special tools or STC (Supplemental Type Certificate), and doesn’t require an A&P mechanic or certified technician.

What to Expect

Jet Shades are designed to match your aircraft model, but achieving a precise fit may require some adjustment during fitting.

Fitting typically involves:

  • Positioning the shades into place
  • Securing the included mounting components
  • Trimming the shades as needed to achieve a clean, precise fit

The level of adjustment can vary depending on your aircraft model, year, and interior condition. Some sets require very little adjustment, while others involve more hands-on fitting to achieve a custom result.

Why Adjustment May Be Needed

Even within the same aircraft model, differences can occur due to:

  • Manufacturing tolerances
  • Natural wear or interior variation over time
  • Previous modifications or upgrades
  • Aftermarket accessories requiring clearance

To account for these differences, Jet Shades are designed large enough to allow for model variation so they can be custom fit to your specific aircraft.

Fitting Methods

Depending on your aircraft and window design, Jet Shades are typically fitted using one of two approaches:

  • Behind-the-Trim Fit:
Shades slide into place behind the aircraft’s interior trim for a clean, integrated appearance. Trimming may still be necessary.
  • Cut-to-Fit Placement:
Shades are cut to match the window opening and secured using clips attached to the window sill for a clean, removable fit.

The fitting guide included with your Jet Shades package outlines both methods.

Vents, Probes, and Other Obstructions

Your Jet Shades may include a pre-cut opening for your aircraft’s storm vent window. Due to variations between production years, aftermarket windows, and accessories such as speed scoops, this opening is sized as a starting point and may require minor trimming to align precisely with your specific aircraft.

If your aircraft does not have a vent window, no trimming is required in this area.

The same applies to probes, antennas, or other cockpit obstructions—simply trim for clearance using the included fitting guide.

Before You Begin

Open your Jet Shades packaging carefully—avoid using blades or knives near the shades. Damage during unpacking is not covered under warranty.

Trimming Best Practices

If trimming is needed, only a sharp pair of utility scissors is required. We recommend:

  • Making gradual adjustments (about ⅛” at a time)
  • Test-fitting frequently as you go
  • Using a paper template when larger adjustments are needed

We also provide general fitting videos and tips to help guide you through the process with confidence.

What’s Included to Help

Every Jet Shades package includes:

  • A fitting guide with step-by-step instructions
  • Mounting components specific to your fitting method
  • Access to helpful fitting resources and videos

In-Flight Use & Removal

Once fitted, Jet Shades remain securely in place and can be repositioned or removed at any time at the pilot's discretion, including during stable cruise flight.

Designed for Real-World Flying

Every set of Jet Shades is designed to balance ease of use, a secure fit, and in-flight usability—so you can spend less time adjusting and more time flying comfortably.
