Purpose-Built for Cruise Conditions
During level flight, especially in early morning or late afternoon, overhead sunlight can increase glare, heat buildup, and direct UV exposure to the face and upper body. Cruising Shades are designed specifically for this phase of flight — adding targeted protection where standard windshield coverage may not be enough.
Installed beneath your windshield Jet Shades, Cruising Shades provide the same heat, glare, and UV-blocking performance in a focused format optimized for cruise. They help reduce visual fatigue, limit cumulative UV exposure, and improve overall cockpit comfort while maintaining clear forward visibility.
Placement is simple: position the upper edge behind your windshield Jet Shade and rest the lower edge on the dashboard for secure, stable coverage during level flight.
Cruising Shades provide:
- Targeted glare reduction during cruise
- Additional heat load management at altitude
- 99.9% UV protection in high-exposure conditions
- Quick installation and removal when needed
- Dual-use capability for flight or ground protection when parked

Measured Protection. Targeted Performance
Cruising Shades are built using the same performance materials as Jet Shades windshield panels — delivering measurable heat, glare, and UV reduction in a format optimized for cruise flight.
Rather than simply dimming visible light, Cruising Shades are formulated to manage solar energy across multiple spectrums, providing:
- 99.9% protection from harmful UVA/UVB radiation
- up to 94% infrared heat blocked
- as much as 80% glare reduction
This layered solar management approach helps reduce cockpit heat load, minimize visual fatigue, and limit cumulative UV exposure during extended time at altitude.
Cruising Shades are especially valuable for pilots who:
- spend long hours in cruise
- fly westbound into the afternoon sun
- operate in high-UV regions
- experience discomfort from overhead solar exposure
Using Cruising Shades
Cruising Shades are designed to be used in conjunction with your Jet Shades windshield panel.
They are designed for the enroute phase of flight when the aircraft is level and the autopilot is engaged, or for use while the aircraft is parked on the ground.
Installation & Removal
Cruising Shades are lightweight and easily positioned without tools.
-
Slide the upper edge behind your windshield Jet Shade.
-
Rest the lower edge on the dashboard.
-
Adjust position as needed to manage overhead sun exposure.
-
Remove and stow prior to descent.
Ground Protection Capability
Cruising Shades are engineered to withstand elevated cockpit temperatures — tested up to 200°F without bubbling or distortion.
When parked on the ramp, they can be placed directly on the windshield to help reduce interior heat load and protect avionics and interior surfaces.
No separate reflective covers required.
